Laurine DeVore OrsburnPublished Wednesday, January 15, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesLaurne DeVore Orsburn, 87, of Okolona died Tuesday, January 7, 1997, in Gurdon at Pineview Care Center. She was born December 1, 1909, in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of the late Walter and Elmeretta Paquette DeVore. She was a graduate of Henderson Brown Teachers College, now Henderson State University. After a teaching career that spanned for over 50 years, she retired at the age of 79 from the Delight School District. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil W. Orsburn. Survivors include a son, Cecil L. `Scotter' Orsburn of Okolona; a daughter, Sue Hale of Tokyo, Japan; three grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 11, at Murry-Ruggle Funeral Chapel with Dr. Cecil Sutley officiating. Interment was in Okolona Cemetery.
