For Annual Chamber Of Commerce Banquet

Entertainment for this year's Gurdon Chamber of Commerce banquet has been lined up.

Set to perform at the banquet February 3 are The Three Amigos, Winnie Clark and Elizabeth Shepherd.

Tickets are on sale at the Chamber office, Cabe Land Company, First State Bank and Horizon Bank. Tickets must be purchased in advance. They are $12.50 each. The Chamber office is open Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Nominations are being accepted for `teacher of the year' and `citizen of the year' to be presented at the annual banquet.

Persons placing nominations are requested to list the following on their ballot:

  • either teacher of the year or citizen of the year;

  • name of nominee;

  • school and grade taught for teacher of the year award;

  • business affiliation for citizen of the year award; and

  • brief description explaining why you believe this individual should receive the award.

Recipients for teacher of the year have been Lila Thompson, Jerry Don Childers, Peggy Hargraves, Gaines Thompson, Sarabeth Hayes, Linda Thrasher, Steve Martin, Billie Jean Miller, Annette Middleton, Allen Wimberly, Elnora Gatlin and Cindy Duke.

Recipients for citizen of the year have been Ed Sherman, C. Louis Cabe, Sara Davidson, Austin Capps, Henry Bell, Betty Slayton, and Dr. George Peeples.

Nominations are to be mailed to the Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 187, Gurdon, AR 71743 by Monday, January 27.
