Home Destroyed By FirePublished Wednesday, January 22, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesThe home of Joe Crow's family was destroyed by fire Thursday afternoon around 2:30 p.m., as the double-wide mobile home was gutted by flames. Jake McBride, Gurdon fire chief, said the structure had a roof built over it, which made it more difficult for firefighters as they battled the blaze. He said it appears as though a short near the electrical box by a clothes dryer was the cause of the fire. This, he said, was determined because it was in this area where there was the most evidence of condensed heat. Two trucks and eight men responded and fought the fire. There were no injuries to firefighters or the Crow family because of the blaze. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
