Rotary Installs Officers; Begins 72nd Year In CountyPublished Wednesday, January 29, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayuneCivic and community organizations in Nevada County provide great benefits to members and citizens. One such club that has served the citizens of Nevada County for 72 years is the Prescott Rotary Club. The Prescott Rotary Club provides opportunities for members to improve themselves, provides financial support for international projects, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations and provides financial support for community projects. Rotary officers for 1997 include Milton Cowling, president; Tim Clarke, vice president; and Dan Yowell is secretary. Rotary's board of directors include John Brannan Jr., Margie Johnson, Von Gordon and Phil McAdams. During 1996, the Prescott Rotary Club assisted in the following projects: medical supplies for Argentina, polio immunization, grants to help impoverished communities in other countries, Prescott High School FBLA, Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, Prescott-Nevada County Industrial Foundation, SWADC-Literacy, Caddo Area Boy Scout Council, Prescott city beautification, high school academic awards, Tri-Service -- Arkansas Arts Council, Nevada County 4-H Foundation, Prescott Baseball Association, Prescott Shuttle, high school athletic awards and Christmas for needy children. "Organizations like this, throughout the county, provide invaluable support for our community," Clarke said. Ownership of all Nevada County Picayune content from the beginning of the newspaper, including predecessors, until May 2001 was contributed by the John and Betty Ragsdale family to the Prescott Community Freenet Association.
