Prescott's junior girls posted three wins last week, all over old rivals.

They started with a satisfying win, whipping Nashville 45-29. The game was close in the first half, but the Cubettes responded to the challenge in the second half to ensure the win.

The Cubettes opened with a 15-10 lead at the end of one, only to see the Scrapperettes fight back and take the lead 22-19.

But, Traci Graham and Jeanie Haynie proved to be too much for Nashville in the third and fourth periods as Prescott rallied for the win. The Cubettes took the lead for good at the end of three, 35-24.

Haynie led Prescott with 26 points, while Graham added a dozen.

Kathy McGee led Nashville with 10.

Haynie also pulled down a dozen boards, while Laura Beth Williamson had four steals. Graham dished out nine assists.

The Cubettes were two of six from the free throw line, while Nashville was three of five.

BLEVINS 30

Blevins was Prescott's next victim, as the Lady Hornets fell 38-30.

The Cubettes needed a strong first period to put some distance between them and Blevins, as the Lady Hornets played even for the rest of the game.

At the end of one, Prescott was up 12-4. This eight point difference proved to be the margin of victory. Both teams scored seven points in the second period, for a halftime score of 19-11.

Prescott won the third period 10-8, but lost the fourth quarter 11-9.

Free throws proved to be important for Prescott as the Cubettes connected on 16 of 27 from the stripe. On the other hand, the Cubettes didn't give Blevins a chance to do much damage from the free throw line as they were three of six.

Graham led all scorers with 17 for Prescott, while Haynie added 12. Both players pulled down 11 boards, while recording five steals each also.

Stewart was the leading scorer for Blevins with six.

HOPE 33

For three quarters, the Cubettes were on the prowl against Hope, with Coach Cecily Butler calling off the dogs in the final period. This allowed the score to be closer than it should have been as Prescott's junior girls beat Hope 41-33.

The Lady Kittens weren't able to overcome Prescott's 59.6 percent field goal shooting for the game.

Prescott opened with a 7-5 lead after one, stretching this to a 19-13 halftime margin.

The Cubette defense allowed one point in the third, while the offense all but put the game out of reach at 29-14.

Graham was left unguarded during the game and took full advantage of it by scoring 22 points and pulling down seven rebounds, along with four steals and six assists. She was 10 of 14 from the field and two for two at the line.

Haynie did her part with 13 points and 10 boards. Haynie was six of eight in field goal shooting as well. Doneshia Williamson had four assists in the contest.

Nelson led Hope with 11.

The Cubettes were three of six from the line, while Hope was six of 16.

Prescott's seventh and eighth grade teams also saw action last week.

The seventh grade B team lost to Arkadelphia 19-3, with Megan Taylor scoring two and Patricia Tedder getting the other point.

The A team, though, got even with a 14-4 win against the Lady Beavers. Leslie Wood scored six, while T. Williamson, T. Smith and C. Zachary had two each. T. Sims and B. Peters each had a point.

In the eighth grade game, the Lady Beavers posted a 37-7 win, as Arkadelphia pressed the entire game.

K. Sorrells, T. Hardeman and A. Crow scored two each for Prescott, with C. Sims adding the final point.

When the Prescott 8th graders played Nashville, they fell 14-10.

T. Franklin led with three, while L. Woods, L. Guthrie and B. Peters all scored two. T. Hardeman had one.

The 7th grade B team was dropped 31-2 by Nashville's A squad.

Heather Harris was the only Prescott player to score.

Hope beat the Cubette 7th graders 24-12.

B. Peters, F. Adams and T. Smith scored four each.
