Published Wednesday, January 29, 1997 in the Nevada County Picayune

A special program to help individuals and families overcome the destructive effects of alcohol and drug addiction will be presented at First United Pentecostal Church Wednesday, February 5, at 7:30 p.m.

The program will be presented by Jesse Emerson, national field representative of Spirit of Freedom Ministries of New Orleans, La.

"The public is welcome," David Stedman, pastor of the church, said. "There will be no obligation or admission charge for this program.

"It should be of great interest to anyone adversely affected by the destructive effects of alcohol or drug addiction," he said."The Spirit of Freedom Ministries offers a new approach that enables anyone to effectively overcome alcohol or drug addiction."

Emerson states that two-thirds of all Americans consume alcohol including 40 percent of America's teenage youth. He claims that one of ten persons who drink becomes an alcoholic. Emerson will relate true accounts of men and women who have been delivered from alcohol and drugs through the Spirit of Freedom Ministries program.

`Raised from the Ruins,' a tape about overcoming alcohol addiction, and other Spirit of Freedom Ministries materials will be available after the presentation.

The church is located on Highway 67 South.

For details, call Stedman at 887-5990.
