Domestic conflicts have been keeping the Nevada County Sheriff's Office busy of late.

In fact, the NCSO worked four domestic batteries last week, including one between two brothers.

According to Hebb Sorrells, media information officer for the NCSO, the fighting began July 20, when Ray and Lewis Sanders of Rosston got into a fight with one another.

This led to the NCSO being called and both being charged with third degree domestic battery.

Ray Sanders was also charged with simple possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, as less than an ounce was discovered by Deputy Danny Martin at the time.

Next up was an altercation between Gary Gatling and his estranged wife in Emmet. This occurred Wednesday, July 28.

Gatling was charged with third degree domestic battery after being arrested by Sheriff Steve Otwell.

William Randall Freeman of Arkadelphia was next on the list, getting charged with third degree battery and public intoxication as the result of an altercation with his ex-wife, who lives in Nevada County. Danny Martin made this arrest Thursday, July 29.

Then came Donald G. Griffin of Prescott on Friday, July 30. A fight with his estrange wife led to an arrest by Sorrells and his getting charged with third degree domestic battery.

Domestic battery in the third degree is a class A misdemeanor, carrying a fine of up to $1,000 and jail time up to a year in the county lockup.

However, the second offense of domestic battery is a class D felony and the offender can be sentenced up to six years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
