Fire Destroys Home

Published Wednesday, February 5, 1997 in the Gurdon Times

Fire destroyed the home of David Coston, Thursday, Jan. 29.

According to Gurdon Fire Chief Jake McBride, the call came in around 7 a.m. about a two-story wood frame home on fire in the South Fork Community.

The Okolona Volunteer Fire Department was the first responding department, with Gurdon's department called in to help.

However, McBride said, the structure was totally destroyed.

The house was under construction at the time, he said, and there was no heat where the fire began -- in an upstairs bedroom. McBride said the fire could have been caused by an electrical problem, but the official cause has not been determined as yet. Arson, though, is not suspected.
