School and football season are just around the corner as we head into August.

However, so is the 63rd Annual Nevada County Fair. This year's fair has been moved up to accommodate the carnival company, and will be held from Aug. 31 through Sept. 5 at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.

This means the deadline for all events has also been moved up.

Items for arts, crafts, photography, baked goods, quilts, household articles, food preservation, fall gardens, field crops and furniture may be entered between 3-6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30.

In addition, poultry and rabbits can be entered at this time as well.

Tuesday, Aug. 31, flower show exhibits must be entered between 7:30 and 10 a.m..

The Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce community coffee will be held at 10 a.m. at the Potlatch Building, and is sponsored by the Nevada County Fair Queens.

At noon, on Aug. 31, will be the judging of the flower show and exhibits.

From noon until 5 p.m., cattle, swine, sheep and goats are to be entered, with the fair parade scheduled for 6 o'clock.

The exhibit buildings and carnival also open at 6 p.m., with the talent contest scheduled to begin at 7 o'clock. An old timers rodeo event will be held at this time also.

On Wednesday, Sept. 1, the exhibit buildings open at noon, with the midway opening at 3 p.m. The livestock show will be held at 5:30, with the rain date for the parade set for 6 o'clock.

Thursday will be pageant time for the tiny miss, little miss, petite miss and young miss categories, starting at 6 p.m.

The premium sale will be held at 6 o'clock Thursday as well.

Friday will be a day primarily for the exhibits and midway, as no other events are scheduled.

Saturday, the midway opens at 10 a.m., with the exhibit buildings opening at 5 p.m.

At 6 p.m. the bigger girls will take center stage for the junior miss, teen miss and fair queen pageants.

The FFA Alumni Little Britches Rodeo will be held at the arena at 6 as well.

At 10 p.m., the livestock will be released to its owners.

A concert will be held in the Potlatch Building at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5, with exhibit items to be picked up between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m.

A gospel concert featuring Harold Gilly and Southern Gold will be held at 2 o'clock.

All commercial booths must be dismantled and removed no later than 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 5.
