With a 9-2 conference record, the Prescott Curley Wolves will be making a trip to Fordyce for the AA Regional Tournament.

This is a complete turnaround from last year's team, that played the entire season shorthanded.

A few more bodies, talented ones at that, with a touch of determination and desire to win has been a successful recipe for the Wolves this year. Overall, the team is 14-6.

The Wolves ran their current winning streak to seven-in-a-row last week with wins over Nevada and Fouke.

NEVADA 55

The Wolves got even with Nevada for a 22-point loss on Nov. 25 at Nevada, as they dumped the BlueJays 65-55 here, Friday.

The win wasn't without a fight, though, as the Jays were attempting to derail the Curley Wolf express. In fact, the Jays entered Wolfland fresh off a win against league-rival Gurdon, Friday, Jan. 31.

The two squads stood toe-to-toe slugging it out for the first 16 minutes, with neither able to put the other down, much less away.

At the end of one, the Wolves led 15-13, and were up 27-24 at the break.

A strong inside game proved to be the difference in the second half, as the Wolves pulled away in the third, 44-38, and stretched this to a 10-point win.

C.D. Flemons led the way for the victory with 18 points, with Jason Morrow adding a dozen. Rashad Johnson stroked the nylon for 10 points.

Eric Murphy was the game's leading scorer with 22. Julius Gulley netted 11, while Todd Evans added 10.

The Wolves connected on 14 of 25 from the charity stripe, while Nevada was eight of 18 at the line.

FOUKE 43

The Wolves learned a valuable lesson Tuesday, Feb. 4, when they traveled to Fouke.

The team learned it can win without the services of its leading scorer, Flemons, as he missed the contest due to injury.

But, while the Wolves proved they can win without Flemons, the team would much rather win with him in the line up.

The Wolves had to fight their way from behind throughout the game against the Panthers.

At the end of one, the Wolves were on the short end of a 13-8 score. This situation worsened by halftime as Fouke led 23-14.

When the buzzer sounded at the end of the third period, the Panthers appeared to be on their way to a win as they led 32-24.

However, the Wolves weren't ready to give up and quit. In fact, the Prescott crew scored almost as many points in the final eight minutes of the game as it did in the first three quarters.

Brandon Wilson and Morrow led the charge for Prescott with 11 points each.

Bulkley paced Fouke with 13.

The Wolves were 21 of 27 from the stripe, while Fouke converted nine of 15 free throws.

At this point, the Wolves are second in the 7AA, behind Fordyce, a team they split with this season.

Their final conference game was against De Queen Tuesday night. Other teams in the league have conference matches Friday, Feb. 14. These games will determine how the brackets will be set for the district tourney.

This year, the district contest will be held in Nashville, while the regional wars will be in Fordyce. The top four teams from the 7AA will make trips to the regional foray.
