College NewsPublished Wednesday, February 12, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayuneKelly Whitmarsh, daughter of Glen and Linda Whitmarsh, has been designated a presidential scholar by the faculty and staff of the University of Central Arkansas. In order to make the presidential scholars list a student must have a 4.0 grade point average. Dr. Winfred Thompson, president of UCA, will present a certificate to Whitmarsh and each of the other presidential scholars at the annual academic honors convocation in April of 1997. She is a pre-physical therapy major. Chancellor Daniel E. Ferritor and University of Arkansas college deans proudly announce the fall semester honor roll for undergraduate students. Eleven hundred and twenty-three students were named to either the chancellor's list or dean's list. Students named to the chancellor's list must have a 4.0 (straight A) grade point average and students named to the dean's list rank in the upper ten percent of students in their individual school or college. Danny Loe, an engineering major from Prescott, was named to the dean's list. Vicki Vasse, a business major also of Prescott, was named to the chancellor's list. Susan Brannan and Robert Poole, both of Prescott, have made the dean's list at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia. Three hundred thirty-seven students were named to the president's list and dean's list at OBU for the 1996 fall semester, according to Dr. Mike Arrington, vice president for academic affairs.
