Group Misleading ASC Workers, Chairman SaysPublished Wednesday, February 19, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayuneIn recent weeks several Nevada County citizens have received packets through the mail asking them to go door to door collecting funds for cancer. "This is not the American Cancer Society," Lenora Dalrymple, chairman of the Nevada County Unit, American Cancer Society, said Monday. "None of the funds stay in Arkansas nor do they benefit our Nevada County patients," she said of the out-of-state agency seeking funds. Many local workers for the American Cancer Society (ACS) have been misled, she said. Dalrymple said local workers for the ACS and others in the county had been contacted by an agency which led the local people to believe it was the ACS contacting them. It was not, she said. "The ACS door to door campaign will be the second week in April and the workers will be contacted personally by phone and through our meetings," she said. "The American Cancer Society thanks you for your continued support and will be calling on all of you in April," Dalrymple said. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
