House On Dean's ListPublished Wednesday, February 19, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesTamara Raphael House, a former student in the Gurdon Schools, has made the dean's list for the third consecutive semester at the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM). House is a sophomore pre-medical major and has maintained a 4.00 grade point average since enrolling at UAM, even while leading an active life in the honors program and as an UAM Ambassador. She graduated with honors as salutatorian from Malvern High School. She was number two in a class of 200 students. While attending high school she was in the gifted and talented program, a peer counselor, vice president of her class, a member of SADD, a member of Hot Spring County Youth Board, Attorney General's Stae Suicide Prevention Board, Arkansas Martin Luther King Jr. Commission, Malvern Leopard basketball team, MHS concert and marching bands, Beta Club and National Honor Society. She was also the 1995 homecoming queen. House is attending UAM on three scholarships: a full academic scholarship from the university, the Isaac Davis scholarship and the Clark County District Association scholarship. She is a member of Eastern Star Baptist Church at Smithton, where she serves as announcer and sings in the young adult choir. She is the daughter of Roosevelt and Wilma House.
