Published Wednesday, August 4, 1999 in the Gurdon Times

On Saturday, August 14, at 6 p.m. a dinner as well as a silent auction, followed by a live auction, will be held at the Garrison Center at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia.

The event has been planned to benefit the Arkansas Children's Hospital (ACH).

Almost everyone has been touched in some way by the work at ACF and owe a great debt of gratitude, according to Anita Cabe of Gurdon, who is chairman of the event. "This is an opportunity to help them continue to treat more and more children," she said in a news release.

A silent auction featuring many items for the guests to bid on will begin the evening. The dinner will be an Arkansas cookout, which will present a chance to enjoy wonderful food, visit with friends and prepare for the lively auction to follow.

The list of items to be auctioned will be those available to tempt everyone's pocketbook, particularly knowing what a good cause this will be supporting, Cabe said.

Tickets are $10 each and are available in Gurdon at the Cabe office, First State Bank and Mercantile Bank. In Arkadelphia they may be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce and The Home Store in
