Williamson Family

Published Wednesday, August 4, 1999 in the Gurdon Times

On July 2, 3 and 4, descendants of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wyatt and Eltizer Washington Williamson came together in their eighth family reunion. From all over the United States they came 'home to a place called Antioch,' Williamson's Homestead in Emmet.

Fun was had by all with much laughter being brought to the group by a memorable 'The Old Folks Dance Contest.'

A memorial service was held in observance of deceased members.

The reunion was brought to an end with worship at Antioch Baptist Church on July 4.

Various types of casseroles, vegetables, desserts and fruits crowded the tables along with the traditional barbecued meats. Recognition is to be given to the preparers: Benjamin Williamson (supervisor), Stacy Williamson, Freddie Miller, James Williamson, Vance Williamson and Willie Mathis. Family support was overwhelming.

Due to the hard work of one father-daughter team Ben Williamson and Marilyn Williamson Manning the gathering was a great success.

A family committee was formed from each branch of the family group for the reunion during the year of 2000. The family will be looking forward to that time when the links of the Williamson- Washington family chain will become even stronger.
