Smith Part Of SAU Squad

Corey Smith, a six-foot one-inch, 210-pound freshman graduate of Nevada High School, is a member of the Southern Arkansas University Mulerider basketball team.

At Nevada, Smith was the all-state most valuable player, regional MVP in Class A, all-conference three years and played on conference and regional championship teams for coach Jack House's Blue Jays.

The shooting guard is majoring in physical education and minoring in music.

His top game in basketball was when he scored 39 points, pulled down 15 rebounds and had eight assists during his senior season with the Jays against Mt. Holly. His most exciting moment was when Nevada Blue Jays were leading by one point with 32 seconds remaining in the semi-finals and he drove for a layup to put the Jays ahead by three. They went on to win by a point.

Corey is the son of Bonnie Sue Mixon.
