Quiz Bowl Team Wins

The Delight Quiz Bowl Invitational Tournament resulted with Prescott teams bringing home two trophies.

The Prescott High School team won second place in their division.

Members of the high school team were Matt Johnson, Sammy Lowdermilk, Kelli Ashbrook, Al Johnston and Jana Barfield. They did a great job and had some real tough competition, a news release stated.

The Prescott Middle School team brought home a second place trophjy in the seventh grade mini-tournament.

Members of the seventh grade team were Megan Taylor, Brandon Kirby, Aaron Jennings, Jonathan Wish, Max Kisselburg, Rick Gober, Chris Class and Toby Bullock.

"This was the last invitatiohnal tournament for the region, and Prescott school did exceptionally well this year," according to the relase. "We participated in four tournaments and won six trophies in all."

The seventh grade team won three trophies with first, second and third places. The junior high team won two trophies with first and second places. The senior high team won one trophy with a second place.

The senior high team is eligible to particpate in the regional competition for the Governor's Quiz Bowl, which was to be held Tuesday, March 4, in Fordyce.

If they are in the top eight scored teams, according to the news release, the team will compete at Little Rock and be televised on AETN.

"All the students who particpated should be contratulated on a job well done," the news release concluded.

The sponsors of the teams are gifted and talented teachers Philip Holthoff and Sheila Jennings.
