Gurdon Lakes Pageant SetPublished Wednesday, March 5, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesClark County Youth Development Center will sponsor its fifth annual Miss Gurdon Lake Pageant on Saturday, May 3, in the Gurdon Middle School auditorium at 7:00 p.m. The pageant is open to children ages 0-21. Pageant divisions are Infant 0-4; Tiny Miss 5-9; Pre Teen 10-12; Junior Miss 13-15; and Miss Gurdon Lake 16-21. Competition will include introduction, sportswear, talent, evening gown and projection. The Infant and Tiny Miss division will compete on the amount of ad sales. The Pre-Teen division will compete on introduction, talent, sportswear and projection. The Junior Miss and Miss Gurdon Lake division will compete on introduction, talent, swimwear, evening gown and projection. All participants are required to pay an entrant's fee of $5 and submit a recent photo, preferably black and white. However, color photos will also be accepted. The purpose of the pagenat is two-fold: 1) to raise funds to support worthwhile activites and projects in Gurdon community; and 2) to give this area's young people an opportunity to perform on stage, to develop poise and self-esteem. The winners in each of the five divisions will receive a trophy, crown, participation certificate and banner. In the Infant and Tiny Miss division, the winners will also receive $25. In the Pre-Teen, Junior Miss and Miss Gurdon Lake division, the winners will receive a crown, banner, flowers, trophy and participation certificate. Miss Gurdon Lake will also receive a $25 scholarship to enter a college or vocational school of her choice. First and second Runners-ups in each of the five divisions will also receive trophies. Application forms are available at Clark County Youth Development Center, 810 South 5th. The center will be accepting applications through March 20.
