Money Is Raised

Amazingly, students at Gurdon Primary School again raised over $3,000 for St. Judge Children's Research Hospital, located in Memphis, Tenn.

The St. Jude Math-A-Thon is designed to not only strengthen basic math skills, but also provides the child an opportunity to build character and self-esteem through helping others. St. Jude is America's leading childhood cancer research center.

Over 75 students at the primary school participated in this annual event. Each will receive a certificate of appreciation. Children raising $35 will get a St. Jude T-Shirt and a free ticket to any Six Flag Theme Park. Those bringing in over $75 will also earn a Math-A-Thon sports bag.

Krissi Davies was again the top money raiser with a whopping $357. She will receive a $75 cash prize and a dual deck radio recorder.

Arron Charles earned second place and will receive $50.

Third place finisher Andre' Anderson will get $25.

Those raising $75 or more were Daniel Francis, Cody Caldwell, Rachel Reeves, Jack Woolf, Marco Giles, Callie King, Krissi Davies, Brandi Benson, Cory Stanley, Jonathan Benson, Jesi Woolf, Kelli Pennington, Ashlyn Escalante, Andre Anderson, Sara Boyce, Charles Carter, Aaron Charles and Taylor Pace.

Those raising at least $35 were Christie Purdy, Marie Reeves, Raeshawn Stephens, Codie Golden, Shane Dempsey, Blake Daniels, Airreall Kinder, Amber Dempsey, Mario Walker, Zackery Martin, Chase Griffin, Haleigh McDaniel, Blake Deaton, Avangeline Miller, Taylor Norman, Monica Reeves, Tori Morehead, Kirby Sandidge, Corey Daniell, Morgan Dillard, Rachael McClure, Natalie Tarpley, Jason Wells, Ryan Norman, Nicole Fallin, Haley Griffen, Marena Smithpeters, Heather Lane, Alye Smith, Chris Young, Autumn Prince and Josh Lockwood.

In addition, a pizza party will be enjoyed by Mrs. Plyer's class for bringing in the most money.

Mrs. Walters' room will get an ice cream party for being second.

Mrs. Duke's class will be treated to a candy bar party.

Local St. Jude Math-A-Thon coordinators are Susan Norris and Jerry Childers.
