Practive Meet Held In Prescott

Published Wednesday, March 19, 1997 in the Nevada County Picayune

The 1997 Wolves finally got a slim break in the weather last week and were able to host a practice meet.

Once again, the Wolves were not in full force, but they did manage a fourth place finish out of six teams.

The top performance of the day for the Wolves came from the pole vaulting crew. Brock Gordan, Jeremy Morrow and Jason Kisselburg, all set personal records in their attempts.

Leading the pack was Jason Morrow, as he broke the existing school record with a 13-foot, six-inch vault. This is Morrow's second record in two meets.

In the indoor state championship on February 28, he shattered the 800 meter record and set a personal record for himself with a 13-foot vault. He was an all-state trackman as a sophomore on the state championship 4x800 relay team.

In spite of the early season and cool weather there were some other outstanding performances from other area athletes last Tuesday.

The Arkadelphia Badgers turned in a 14.2 hurdler and a 48.3 400 dash. One of the Mineral Springs' Hornets ran a 10.7 in the 1200-meter dash and Lake Hamilton had some good distance times.

In the women's division, two Nashville Scrapperettes surpassed the 100-meter dash state qualfiying marks.

Weather permitting, Prescott hosted the second annual March Relays this past Tuesday. Information about this meet and the April schedule will be in next week's paper.
