University of Arkansas Community College at Hope has announced that Stacy Woods, a senior at Prescott High School, has been awarded a technical scholarship at the college.

The scholarship is based upon an ACT and grade point average plus a recommendation from a school official.

Woods is the daughter of Shelia Thornton and Steve Woods of Prescott.

She will be pursuing a major in associate of applied business technology.


The office of University Relations and Admissions of Henderson State University announces that Stephanie D. Storey has been awarded the Presidential Academic Scholarship for 1997-98.

Amber D. Burke of Prescott has been given the Award of Achievement Scholarship for 1997-98 at HSU, according to Vikita Bell Hardwick, director.

According to Hardwick, the Presidential Academic Scholarship is equivalent to in-state registration fees (tuition) plus housing for up to four years which equals approximately $13,584. The Award of Achievement Scholarship is equivalent to $250 per semester for up to four years, which equals $2,000.

Storey is the daughter of T. Jon and Darlene Kelly.

Burke is the daughter of Robert and Debbie Burke of Prescott.

Both are seniors at Prescott High School.
