Published Wednesday, March 19, 1997 in the Nevada County Picayune

The American Lung Association invites you to take the Challenge and help fight lung disease in Arkansas. The Clean Air Challenge bike tour will take place on April 26 & 27, 1997 from Little Rock to Hot Springs and will feature a one-day, 50 or 100-mile event, in addition to the traditional two-day, 120-mile tour.

The Challenge is a fun and scenic tour from Little Rock to Hot Springs that riders of any age or cycling ability will enjoy. All food is provided, along with lodging at the beautiful Majestic Hotel for participants in the two-day tour.

Rest stops every 10-12 miles along the route will be stocked with fresh fruit, high energy snacks and water. Cyclists are supported by a staff of trained volunteers, communication experts, SAGs, massage therapists, medical personnel and law enforcements support.

Individuals or teams, consisting of a least three cyclists, are encouraged to participate and compete for wonderful prizes by raising the most money. All proceeds help fund research and educational programs, keep our air clean and prevent our children from smoking.

For more information or to register for the 1997 Clean Air Challenge, contact the American Lung Association of Arkansas at 1-800-880-5864 or 224-5864 in Pulaski County.
