Suspect Is Charged With Arson

An arrest has been made in connection with a house burned on Feb. 18 in Rosston.

According to Jim Westmoreland, criminal investigator with the Nevada County Sheriff's Office and Prescott Police Department, Colette Bishop, 23, of Rosston, has been arrested, and is expected to be charged with arson in the case.

The fire was originally reported at 8 p.m., Feb. 19, with the interior of the structure completely engulfed in flames when the Rosston Volunteer Fire Department arrived.

The efforts of the Rosston VFD saved the exterior of the house, while the interior was gutted by the fire.

Bishop was interviewed by Westmoreland Tuesday, March 11, in connection with the case. It was determined there was enough evidence on hand to place her under arrest for the crime, though she bonded out and had her first court appearance today.

The incident occurred following an alleged domestic dispute between her and her husband, Ramon Bishop say officials.

Arson is a class Y felony, carrying a possible sentence of 10 to 40 years or life in prison.
