100th Birthday Party Is PlannedPublished Wednesday, March 19, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesJohnnie Blanche Young will be celebrating her 100th birthday on March 21 at 2:00 p.m. at Pineview Care Center with family and friends. Mrs. Young has lived in the Gurdon area since birth and was married to Aubrey Young who is now deceased. The Youngs were blessed with three children, Kenneth, who resides in North Little Rock, Dorman, who is deceased and a daughter, Marian, who resides in Florida. Mrs. Young taught school in her earlier years and was a seamtress for Horne's Department Store in Gurdon. She is a member of the Beech Street Baptist Church. Mrs. Young says that she has three very fond memories to share. One is the fact that she never had to take a test in school, because her grades were so good. Secondly, she remained in the same home where her children were raised. Thirdly, she is very proud that granddaugter Dr. Marilyn Young is professor of business administration and director of the Small Business Institute at Tyler, Texas. You are invited to join in the celebration of this very special day for a lovely lady.
