24th Annual Tiger Traks Planned

It will be a two day extravaganza of fun and competition for the students of Ouachita Baptist University participating in the 24th annual Tiger Traks event, billed as Arkansas' Most Exciting College Weekend, to be held April 18-19 on the OBU campus.

The event is sponsored by the Special Events Committee of the Ouachita Student Foundation (OSF), an organization of students who help raise funds for scholarships for upperclassment students and asists the University in student recruitment, professional job contacts, and various public relations- oriented activities.

"The students really enjoy participating each year in Tiger Traks," said Mac Sisson, staff coordinator of the special evcents committee of OSF "It is a time of relaxation and fun for before sjpring finals."

More than 350 students are expected to compete in Tiger Traks.

Teams comprised of eight students, four men and four women, will participate in 10 Tiger Traks events to include: pigskin pass, egg toss, basketball relays, the work game "Taboo," dart toss, "oozeball" (mud volleyball), the building blocks game of "Jenga,: an outdoor obstacle course, raft races, and tug-of-war.

The weekend's events will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday in front of the Roy and Christine Sturgis Physical Education Center with teams participating in the egg toss where members will attempt to pitch and catch an uncooked egg without letting it break.

From there, participants will move onto the "pigskin pass" portion of the competition to be held at the football practice field.

Friday's last round of competition will begin following the pigskin pass and eggtoss with teams rotating between four different events inside the Sturgis Center.

Trak teams will test their luck at basketball relays, the building blocks game of "Jenga," dart toss, and the word game of "Taboo."

Saturday's events will begin at 9 a.m. with the raft races to be held in Waggoner Pool at the Sturgis Center.

The day will conclude with the final three events begining at 1 p.m. in from of Eddie Blackmon Fieldhouse. They are: ostacle course relays, oozeball (mud vollyball) and tug-of-war in the mud.

Members of the winning Tiger Traks team will receive a $150 gift certificate. Second place team members will receive a $100 gift certificate, third and fourth place winners will receive $25 and $50 gift certificates.

The public is invited to attend all Tiger Traks events. There is no admission charge.
