Whelen ECH Meets

Published Wednesday, March 26, 1997 in the Gurdon Times

The Whelen Springs EHC met Thursday, March 20 with 10 members present and one visitor. Roll call was answered with a storage tip from each member. Devotion was given by Judy Daniels. No program was shared this month due to the tornado March 1 in Arkadelphia.

Nedra Williams had croachet baby chicks that fitted over a plastic egg (that was filled with Easter goodies) and presented one to each member that was present. Thank you Nedra. Mrs. Louisa Stone shared with all a small Easter basket that she had crafted from plastic mesh and yarn, a perfect centrpiece for the season. Ruth Sullivan brought a fabric covered photo album (or recipe book) and a cheesecloth angel to share with club members.

The club took on a project to benefit the Children's Hospital in Little Rock. Teaching dolls, caps and booties are their goal. Teaching dolls are made from domestic with no design on them. A surgical cap is put on the doll and is used in showing children where the incision will be made. Afterward, when the children are feeling better, they draw a face on the doll. Caps and booties will be crochet or knitted to be used in the nursery.

Pot luck lunch was served following the meeting. Delicious food was brought and shared by all those present.

A donation of $24.36 was collected. This will be added to monies from the other EHC in Clark County and will be divided among EHC members whose homes were destroyed by the March 1 tornado.

The Clark County EHC celebration for clubs of the year has been rescheduled to Monday, April 6. The program begins at 11:00 a.m., followed by a pot luck dinner and entertainment after that. All members are urged to attend and take part in this county wide celebration.

The Whelen Springers are still going strong-some stronger than others. For those members not present, we missed you and hope to see you next month. Remember the club meets the 3rd Thursday every month.

Make your secret pal feel eggstra special by remembering her on Easter.
