William E. Welch

William E. Welch, age 76 of Gurdon, son of the late W.O. and Ruth Welch, died Saturday, March 22, 1997 at Pineview Care Center in Gurdon. He was an active member of Red Springs Missionary Baptist Church serving as Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and song leader. He was a machinist for Reynolds Metal Company for 28 years. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II where he spent six years in the South Pacific and was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and a sponsor of the Jr. Mounted Patrol.

Survivors include: his wife of 50 years, Mildred; two brother and sister- in-law, Glen H. and Neil Welch of Arkadelphia, and Sam Welch of North Little Rock; a aunt and several nieces and nephews and many friends.

Services were at 2:30 Monday, March 24, 1997 at the Red Springs Church under the direction of Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon. Pallbearers were church members and honorary pallbearers were nephews and great nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Bethel Springs Cemetery, Red Springs or Charity of your choice.
