Clyde Eli HarrisPublished Wednesday, March 26, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesClyde Eli Harris, age 96, of Arkadelphia, died Monday, March 17, 1997, at Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia. He was born November 10, 1900, in Doyle, Arkansas, the son of the late Eli and Frances Harris. He was a retired barber, serving the community for over fifty years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Arkadelphia and attended the Manchester United Methodist Church for many years. He attended the Manchester Methodist Men's Group. Survivors include his wife, Zelma Pennington Harris; one son, C.E. Harris of Athens, GA; one daughter, Martha Frances Alexander of Rocky Mountain, NC; one step son, Gene Swearingten of Arkadelphia; one step daughter, Nancy Kelly of Arkadelphia; twelve grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Funeral services was held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 1997, at the Manchester United Methodist Church with Rev. Lindol Loyd officiating.
