Jones Earns ScholarshipPublished Wednesday, March 26, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesDona Fay Jones of Gurdon, a senior at Gurdon High School, has accepted a President's Scholarship to attend Arkansas State University next fall. The President's Scholarship is available to Arkansas high school seniors who score 26 through 29 on the American College Test (ACT). Arkansas State University began the program to reward and encourage outstanding students to continue their pursuit of academic excellence. Recipients receive full tuition and a double-occupancy room in one of ASU's residence halls. The award is renewable through the rcipient's senior year. Dona is the daughter of Patricia Vaden of Gurdon and Richie Dean Vaden of Thibodoux, LA. Grandparents are Ruby Young of Oseceola, Corene Hughes, and Mrs. Corredur Mae Vaden of Malvern.
