Trees AvailablePublished Wednesday, April 9, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesTen free white flowering dogwood trees will be given to each person who joins The National Arbor Day Foundation during April 1997. The free trees are part of the nonprofit foundation's Trees for America Campaign. "White flowering dogwoods will add year-round beauty to your home and neighborhood," John Rosenow, the Foundation's president, said. "Dogwoods have showy spring flowers, scarlet autumn foliage and red berries, which attract songbirds all winter." The trees will be shipped postpaid at the right time for planting in April or May with enclosed planting instructions. The six- to 12- inch trees are guaranteed to grow or they will be replaced free of charge. Members also receive a subscription to the foundation's bimonthly publication, Arbor Day, and The Tree Book with information about tree planting and care. To become a member of the foundation and receive the free trees, send a $10 contribution to Ten Free Dogwoods, National Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Avenue, Nebraska City, NE 68410, by April 30, 1997.
