Libraries Play Big Role

Published Wednesday, April 9, 1997 in the Nevada County Picayune

Whereas, our nation's public, school and academic libraries play a vital role in helping people of all ages connect with books, computers, videotapes and other resources they need to learn and grow;

Whereas, libraries offer preschool story hour and progams to help children learn and enjoy reading;

Whereas, libaries provide access to the information superhighway for all people; and

Whereas, children and their families view librarians as friends and teachers available to answer questions and guide them; and

Whereas, library services remain free to every citizen, providing equal opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds;

Whereas, libraries nationwide are celebrating National Library Week with the theme "Kids Connect @ the Library;"

Now, therefore, be it resovled that I, Howard L. Taylor, Mayor proclaim April 13-19, 1997, National Library week in Prescott and encourage all adults to take a child to a library this week and help them connect to a wonderful world of learning, adventure and imagination.
