Bike Tour Is April 26-27Published Wednesday, April 16, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesRegister now for the Clean Air Challenge Bike Tour to benefit the American Lung Association of Arkansas and help the 230,000 Arkansans who suffer from incurable lung disease breathe easier. Taking place on April 26 and 27, from Little Rock to Hot Springs, the Clean Air Challenge feature a one-day, 50- or 100-mile event, in addition to the traditional two-day, 120-mile tour. The challenge is a fully supported, fun and scenic tour that riders of any age or cycling ability will enjoy, according to a news release from the American Lung Association. All food is provided, along with lodging at the Majestic Hotel in Hot Springs for two-day tour participants. Rest stops every 10 to 12 miles along the route will be stocked with fresh fruit, high energy snacks and water. Cyclists are supported by a staff of trained volunteers, mechanical support, SAFs, massage therapists and medical personnel. Individuals and teams are encouraged to participate and compete for prizes awarded to top fund raisers. Proceeds help fund research, keep our air clean, prevent children from smoking and provide asthma education programs. Lung disease is the third ranking killer in the United States.
