College NewsPublished Wednesday, April 16, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesUniversity of Arkansas Community College at Hope has announced that Lori Thomas, a senior at Gurdon High School, has been awarded a Technical Scholarship at the college. The scholarship is based upon an ACT and grade point average plus a recommendation from a school official. She is the daughter of Sammy and Betty Thomas of Gurdon. Miss Thomas will be pursuing a degree in pre-bachelor in nursing. Raymond Klein Molden, son of Robert and Helen Molden of Russellville, and grandson of the late Richard and Anna Mae Molden of Sioux City, Iowa, and the late Raymond and Minnie Crawley of Gurdon, has been awarded a position in the 1997-98 entering medical class of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Molden, a 1992 graduate of Russellville High School, received his bachelor of science in biology from Arkansas Tech University (ATU) in 1996, graduating Summa Cum Laude. While at ATU, Molden was a member of the Order of Omega, Blue Key and Alpha Chi national honor societies and was a member of many campus organizations, including the pre-med club, ATU student ambassador, two-year freshman orientation leader, Interfraternity Council vice-president, and Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, where he served as president and as a national leadership seminar delegate.
