City Council Approves Contractor; Police Officer Hired (cont)BY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, August 11, 1999 in the Gurdon Times school, he said, is surrounded by the city, but has never officially been annexed. The timeline for annexing GPS into the city limits will begin Aug. 18 with a public hearing notice and the owners of the property being notified of the intentions by certified mail. On Sept. 13, a public hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m., followed by the regular monthly meeting of the council at 7 o'clock. An ordinance to annex GPS into the city will be proposed on Oct. 11, when the council convenes, with the property being assigned into a voting ward should the ordinance be passed. This will be done on Nov. 8. Even though GPS is a school, the law requires the property be placed in a voting ward. It was pointed out a mobile home is on the GPS property and someone lives in it.
