Sports Heroes Will Be Hailed Saturday

Saturday, April 19, will be an historic day for Gurdon athletics.

On this day, the first members of the new Gurdon Hall of Fame will be inducted.

A total of 17 former Go-Devils and Lady Devils will be so honored. They are: Ed Sherman, Jim Stiffler, Grady Cathey, Johnny Toombs, Nathan Gills, Chris Harper, Duke Wells, Roy Karr, Joe Jester, Ray Quarles, George Golden, Ben Smith, Larry Smith, Gerald Hatley, Sandra Hatley, Lita Gattis and Toni Anderson Green.

These former star athletes will be formally inducted at a banquet at 6 p.m. Saturday at the new Gurdon High School cafetorium.

Tickets for the event will be $5 each. They can be purchased at the superintendent's office, Horizon Bank and the First State Bank of Gurdon.
