AIDC Honoring State's Industry

Arkansas' Industrial Development Commission is taking "AIM" at promoting industry.

Throughout the month of May, the AIDC is sponsoring a new public awareness program: Arkansas Industries Month.

This program, according to Brad Lacy, with the AIDC, has been designed to highlight the contributions industries and service companies have made to the state's economy, culture and quality of life.

With this in mind, the AIDC is soliciting help from local industrial developers and chambers of commerce across Arkansas to get the message out.

Peter Lawson, director of the Clark County Industrial Council, said while this is a statewide program local events are also being planned to recognize area industrial employees and make them feel special.

Buttons with the legend, "I'm What Makes Arkansas" will be given to industry employees and will be worth considerations at several area businesses.

Merchants in Clark County are being approached to give those who wear the buttons discounts on items purchased or free gift with a purchase. They are not, however, being asked to simply give their merchandise away.

Lawson said how the merchant structures their participation is entirely up to them. But, he added, their participation will help stimulate sales and make industry employees feel special.

Lawson is working to get at least 30 merchants to participate in taking AIM at honoring area industrial employees.
