Jimmy `Jim' Daniels

Jimmy L. `Jim' Daniels, 57, of Bodcaw died Tuesday, April 15, 1997, at University Medical Center in Little Rock.

Born July 17, 1939, in Stamps, he was the son of I.J. and Norris Rogers Daniels. He was a USDA civil engineer with the Natural Resource Conservation Service in Hope. Mr. Daniels was a deacon and a member of Union Baptist Church in Bodcaw. He was the founder and director of `The Ambassadors' gospel singing group, a member of the Southern Gospel Music Association, and a U.S. Navy veteran from the Vietnam war. He served on the USS Midway. His family was selected as the 1984 farm family of the year for Hempstead County.

Survivors include his wife, Tammy Daniels of Bodcaw; one son, Jack E. Daniels of Bodcaw; one brother, Joe C. Daniels of Texarkana, Texas; one sister, Joyce Purtle of Round Rock, Texas; and his mother, Norris Rogers Daniels of Stamps.

Services were held Friday, April 18, at First Baptist Church of Hope with Dr. Perry Purtle, Rev. Jerry Evans and Rev. David Cook officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery in Bodcaw under the direction of Brazzel-Oakcrest Chapel Funeral Home of Hope.
