Relays Set For Thursday

Published Wednesday, April 23, 1997 in the Nevada County Picayune

The 23rd annual Prescott Merchant Relays will be held Thursday, April 24.

"This is the last major meet before district, so once again we are expecting a large turnout of schools," coach Eddie Jackson said.

The awards are made possible by the contributing merchants.

"The facilities available, good weather hopefully, meet organization and excellent competition are all factors in making this a showcase track and field meet for southwest Arkansas," Jackson said.

The field events will get underway at 3:46 p.m. Some of the slower heats of the sprints will be run at 4;15 p.m. and the 4x800 relay will begin at 5:10. Finals will be run at 5:45.

The pre-meet favorites in the boys' division would have to be Stamps and Mineral Springs (both were state champs last year)' but the Wolves plan on making a good showing, according to Jackson.
