PHS Defeats NashvilleBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, April 23, 1997 in the Nevada County Picayune There's nothing more satisfying than beating an old foe. This is exactly what Prescott's tennis teams did when they played Nashville Wednesday, April 16. The Wolves posted a 6-2 win, while the Wolverettes were 7-1 on the day. Scott Graham opened the match with an 8-1 win over Chau. Jason Morrow followed by whipping J.C. Petty 8-5. Mike Fountain suffered the Wolves' only loss in singles, going down 4-8 to M. Erskine. From there, Jeremy Morrow clipped C. Dunn 8-5; Ryan Ellis smacked M. Young 8-3; and Matt Brannon skunked J. Arnold 8-0. In doubles, the team of Jeremy Morrow and Fountain lost to Dunn and Erskine 3-8. But, Jason Morrow and Sam Lowdermilk returned the favor by pasting Young and Arnold 8-3 as well. There was nothing pretty about the way the girls demolished the Scrapperettes on the court. Play opened with Stacy Stockton blasting Stephanie Harris 8-3. This was followed by Traci Graham humiliating Leah Clark 8-2. Leslie Grimes whipped Holly Ramage 8-6. Laura Culpepper had problems in her match against Meagan Steel, but won 8-6. Christy Moore spanked P. Coley 8-3, before R. Cox clipped Kelli Ashbrook 6-2. In doubles, Stockton and Graham teamed up to blank Steel and Ramage 8-0, while the tandem of Hendrix and Martin blasted Tally and Reeves 8-3.
