Local industries will be shown how much they are appreciated with a special day all their own.

May 22 will be Industry Appreciation Day in Prescott, according to Chandler Russ, executive director of the Prescott-Nevada County Economic Development Office.

The day will begin with a four-man scramble golf tournament at the Prescott Country Club. This tourney is by invitation only and open to business and industry employees.

A lunch will also be served at the PCC at 11:30 a.m., before the 12:30 p.m. tee time. Following the tourney, Russ said, a barbecue dinner, catered by the FFA Alumni, will be held.

Del Boyette, director of the Arkansas Industrial Development Commission, will be the featured speaker.

"It's nothing formal," Russ said. "It's just a chance for those in business and industry to relax and for us to show our appreciation."

He said the plans are to have representatives from Firestone, Potlatch, Ward Wood, Hines Truck Line, the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, the Arkansas Transportation and Highway Department, Bank of Prescott, Bank of Delight, area legislators, Entergy, Arkla, Swepco, Red River Knitting, St. Michael's, the Southwest Arkansas Planning and Development District, International Paper, Temple-Inland, Dalrymple Accounting, Flywheel's Pies, local contractors, regional engineers as well as city and county government on hand.

Entertainment for the event is being worked on at this time.
