Hillery also identified a photo of the bike purchased from Page. He told the court he was with Hays McWhirter, ASP CID, and deputy William Steed when it was bought for $20 from Page's wife. In fact, Hillery recalled giving her the money himself. This bike was also taken to the NCSO and photographed. It was reportedly identical to a bike stolen around the time of the murders, and also had aqua cables.

Changing the line of questioning, Rodgers asked Hillery if he recalled writing a statement about the incidents at the crime scenes when the bodies were found. Hillery said he did remember writing one out by hand and leaving it for Ursery.

Bramblett, on cross, asked why Hillery didn't remember writing the statement before, and was told the copy of the five-page typed document helped.

The typed statement was, Hillery said, done by Ursery at the ASP headquarters. He said he remembered writing it about two days after the murders when he got a request to come to the NCSO.

The statement describes how Hillery picked up evidence at the first scene, including the shorts and panties, along with a live .22 shell and two or three spent casings.
