Highway 67 Project To BeginPublished Wednesday, April 16, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe Arkansas State Highway Commission has opened bids for a project to improve Highway 67 North, according to Highway Commissioner Mary P. `Prissy' Hickerson. The project will overlay a 6.17-mile section of Highway 67 from Prescott to the Little Missouri River. R.D. Plant Contracting Company, Inc., of Murfreesboro was awarded a $573,710.60 contract for the work. The project is expected to be complete by July 25. "The commission believes it is very important to take care of our existing facilites and the overly program is a cost-effective way of accomplishing that," Hickerson said. "We will spend about $20 million on overlays this year." Hickerson said construction could begin in six to eight weeks, weather permitting.
