Master Sewing Program SetPublished Wednesday, April 23, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesBarbara A. Holt, Ph.D. Clark County Extension Agent Family and Consumer Sciences Cooperative Extension Service Want to enhance your basic sewing skills and learn new and creative sewing techniques that are quick and professional? Would you be willing to participate in a new Master Clothing Volunteer program where you could teach others basic sewing skills? To become a member of the Master Clothing Volunteer team in Clark County you need good basic knowledge and skills in clothing construction and be excited about helping others learn to sew. You will receive 24 hours of intensive clothing construction skill enhancement, leadership development and program delivery training. In exchange for the 24 hours of training, Master Clothing Volunteers will contribute 40 hours of sewing instruction to others in the county. the team will represent the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service by providing educational programs and sewing classes, expand the number of people sewing, and assist with county clothing related activities. Training for volunteers in the Southwest District will be held in Arkadelphia, August 5-7, at the Clark County Fair Grounds. It will be conducted by Cynthia Klumppy, Master Clothing volunteer Coordiantor with the Cooperative Extension Service, University of Arkansas, who is starting up the first Master Clothing Volunteer program in the state. A native Oklahoman, Klumpp holds a master's degree in clothing and textiles from Okahoma State University. In 1997 she expects to teach about 200 volunteers from about 20 counties.
