Whelen Spring Club MeetsPublished Wednesday, April 23, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesThe Whelen Springs EHC met Thursday, April 17th with nine members present. Roll was answered with their favorite time of day. Several answered with the evening, when their daily tasks were finished and they could sit back and relax. Those with young children agree it was when their kids got off to school and it was peaceful around the house. Corine Stiffler read an inspirational poem for devotion. Reminding us of all the things we have to be thankful for. Nedra Williams presented an informative program on how to take care of your young plants and trees that you set out in spring. Everyone then enjoyed refreshments brought by Betty Robbins and Judy LeMay. Several members had finished their project for the Children's Hospital in Little Rock. The group had several caps, booties and teaching dolls ready to turn in while ther is still another that is trying to get that second bootie to match the first one! Oh well, there is still time for those of us who haven't finished. The members will hopefully begin their next project at their next meeting, May 15. The Whelen Springs Extension Homemakers Club meet the third Thursday of every month at 10 a.m. at the East Whelen Springs Church fellowship hall. An invitation is extended out to anyone who would like to come and share the morning with us. The program of Aprils meeting was closed with "I know something good about you." Each member was to say something good about one or more present. It wasn't hard at all for these ladies to come up with good things to say; for all one had to do was to look around at the smiling faces, the generous hearts and the hands that are always ready to help when needed. As a reminder, remember your secret pal on Mother's Day. Be sure to check when her birthday or anniversary is and make those a special day by letting her know you remembered.
