Local Jaycees Begin DrivePublished Wednesday, April 23, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesSouth Clark County Jaycees has started a membership drive. Individuals from 21 to 40 may be a Jaycee. The club must maintain 20 members to continue its charter. The organization has until May 30 to get the 20 members. Membership is $40 a year. The Jaycees is an organization that provide young people the opportunity to develop personal and leadership skills through local community service and organization involvement while expanding the Junior Chamber movement. The Jaycees has been a part of the Gurdon community for the past five years and has played a valuable part in multiple community projects, such as:
The Jaycees creed is -- We believe: That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life; That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations; That economic justic can best be won by free men through free enterprise; That government should be of laws rather than that of men; That earth's great treasure lies in human personality; and That service to humanity is the best work of life.
