Blanche YoungPublished Wednesday, April 23, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesBlanche Young, 100, of Gurdon passed away Thursday, April 17, 1997, at Pinview Care Center. Mrs. Young was born March 21, 1897, in Gurdon. She was a lifelong resident of Gurdon and belonged to Beech Street Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Young, her son, Dorman Young, and granddaughter, Karen Young. She graduated from Gurdon High School in 1916. She worked many years in several stores in Gurdon and was employed at Horne's Department Store, Taylor Meat Market, Tog Shop and Daisy Queen. Survivors include a daughter, Marian Listenes of Homestead, Fla.; a son, Kenneth Young of North Little Rock; four grandchildren, Kay Young, Brock Young, Jon Young and Dr. Marilyn Young; and two great grandchildren, Ashley and Chesney Young.
