Adriane Porcelli Finalist In Teen PageantPublished Wednesday, April 23, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesAdrianne Porcelli, 17, daughter of Marsha Porcelli of Arkadelphia, has been selected to be a finalist in the 1997 Arkansas National Teen-Ager scholarship program to be held at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia on Arpil 25 and 26. Arkansas National Teen-Ager Scholarship is the official state finals to the 26th annual National Teen-Ager program held at Opryland US August 9-16. There will be a state winner and four runners-up in two age divisions: 13, 14 and 15 and 16, 17 and 18. The winner in each age division will receive a $1,000 savings bond, a trip to Opryland USA and a full-tuition modeling scholarship from John Robert Powers worth $1,000. Senior Arkansas National Teen-Ager will receive a $6,400 renewable scholarship to the University of the Ozarks, a scholarship to Ouachita Baptist University, a full two-year tuition scholarship to Oklahoma City University, worth over $14,000, and a full-tuition scholarship to The Art Institute worth $11,800. Arkansas National Teen-Ager scholarship program will be awarding over $100,000 in tuition scholarships from various universities during the weekend event. Also, every student will receive a $200 scholarship to the John Robert Powers School of Modeling. Each student accepted has the option to participate in the volunteer community service program of America's National Teen-Ager. This program teaches teenagers to share and to participate in school and civic activities. Students will be judged on scholastic achievement-leadership and communication skills. There is no swimsuit competition. Talent may be presented at the option of the participant or an oral essay on the subject of "What's Right About America."
