Gurdon High Graduation Is May 16Published Wednesday, April 23, 1997 in the Gurdon TimesTerrie Brown and Melanie Wilson have been chosen co-valedictorians of the 1997 senior class at Gurdon High School. Kadre Clark was named salutatorian of the class. The announcement was made Monday by Leonard Gills, principal at the school. Brown is the daughter of Sue Brown of Gurdon and Billy Brown of Camden. She received the Award of Achievement Scholarship from Henderson State University, where she plans to continue her education in the field of nursing. Wilson is the daughter of Roy and Elizabeth Wilson of Gurdon. Her future plans are to also attend Henderson State Univeristy, where she has been awarded a Presidential Scholarship. She also received a band scholarship. This fall she will be marching with the HSU band. Clark is the daughter of Dickie Don and Wonda Clark of Gurdon. She is the recipient of the E.L. Keith Scholarship at Ouachita Baptist University. She is planning to major in pre-pharmacy. Seven other students completed the list of the top ten academic graduating seniors for the 1996-97 school year. They are Cassidy Allen, Mitch Plyler, Amanda Calley, April Simpson, Tameka Harper, Wendy Warren and Nicholas Hughes. Graduation is set for Friday, May 16, at 7:00 p.m. at Gus Brown stadium.
