Two Earn HonorariumPublished Wednesday, April 30, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe United States Achievement Academy announced that Megan Taylor and Misty Brown, both of Prescott have been named as All American Scholars. The USAA has established the All-American Scholar Award Program to offer deserved recognition to superior students who excel in the academic disciplines. The All-American Scholars must earn a 3.3, or higher, grade point average. Only scholars selected by a school instructor, counselor, or other qualified sponsor are accepted. These scholars are also eligible for other awards given by the USAA. Taylor, who attends Prescott Middle School, and Brown, who attends Prescott High School, were nominated for this national award by Cecily Butler. Taylor and Brown will appear in the All-American Scholar Yearbook, which is published nationally. The academy selects All-American Scholars upon the exclusive recommendation by teachers, coaches, counselors and other qualified sponsors. Once awarded, the students may be recognized by the USAA for other honors. Taylor is the daughter of Bill and Karen Taylor of Prescott. Her grandparents are Juanita Taylor of Prescott and Merle Owens of Prescott. Brown is the daughter of Teresa and Gary Brown of Prescott.
