Leona Upton ColePublished Wednesday, May 7, 1997 in the Nevada County PicayuneLeona Upton Cole, 89, of Midland, Texas, formerly of Hope, died Wednesday, April 30, 1997, at a hosptial in Odessa, Texas. Born Sepotember 5, 1907, in Calhoun County, she was the daughter of Ed and Cora Dunn Upton. She was the retired owner of Cole's Double Dip Ice Cream Store and retired from Hempstead County Circuit Clerk's office in Hope. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hope. Survivors include a daughter, Ann Gilbert of Midland, Texas; and two grandchildren. Graveside services and burial were held Saturday, May 3, at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope with Rev. Davis Thompson officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Brazzel-Oakcrest Chapel Funeral Home of Hope. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O.
